Sometime, back at art college around 1966 in the UK, my world, my future, my vocabulary took on a whole new impetus.

* I Had fervently studied Duchamp, Miro, Bosch, [[Salvador Dali]] and all. 
* I had made artistic holes in [[Help, I'm A Rock|limestone rock]] and dabbled Pollock-like (but my spatters lacked conviction). 
* I had tried to look cool in a [[Bob Dylan|Blind Boy Grunt]] hat. 
* I had tried to [[Tryin' To Grow A Chin|grow]] a [[200 Years Old|moustache]]. 
* I had a [[Who Are The Brain Police?|chrome]] scooter, although my old school-mates were [[Motorcycles (CC)|'Greasers']]. 
* I had got totally hip to [[Roland Kirk]]'s musique concrète. 
* I had annoyed the neighbours with my [[Cars (CC)|souped-up]], pink & green low-slung [[Cruising For Burgers|Standard 10]]. 
* I had put a quiff in my hair and not realized 'mixing art' when I'd played [[Paul Buff|Wipeout & Pipeline]] to death. 
* I had argued the toss over [[The Rolling Stones]] being miles better than [[The Beatles]]. 
* I had began my first hand-drawn discography of blues-jazz fusion catalyst [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexis_Korner Alexis Korner]. 
* I had chortled at Spike Milligan, [[The Very Best Of Dr. Demento|Tom Lehrer]]'s parodies and begun to dig [[Lord Buckley]]'s "Nazz"-speak. 
* I had met some [[The Jazz Discharge Party Hats|East-end girls]] and some [[What Kind Of Girl Do You Think We Are?|West-end girls]] on my journeys into Film Noir & [[Captain Beefheart vs. The Grunt People|Cinéma Vérité]]. 
* I had also discovered [[Burnt Weeny Sandwich|frankfurters]], [[Catholic Girls]] and [[America Drinks & Goes Home|American beverages]]. 
* I had gone to dances in my mother's old fur coat, wearing hessian trousers & [[Eddie Are You Kidding?|double-knit]] tops. 
* I had discovered [[Dummy Up|funny substances]], alternate [[The Blue Light|Todd-like realities]] and several parallel universes. 
* I had spent a night eating [[Call Any Vegetable|lentils]], waiting for Dawn to happen at Stonehenge. (Lovely girl, ruined her life). 
* I had discovered Kierkegaard, Moorcock, [[Hunchentoot|SF]], Plato, The Silver Surfer, [[Monster Movies (CC)|monster movies]], concrete poetry & [[John Cage]]. 
* I had discovered [[Heavenly Bank Account|creeds]] divide our Godly existence. 
* I had fervently wished [[Does Humor Belong In Music?|music]] was a [[Who Needs The Peace Corps?|better mess]] to make than [[I Don't Wanna Get Drafted|war]]. </blockquote>

====Then things changed forever.====
I had found [[Captain Beefheart|Don Van Vliet]] on the airwaves. 
He then, unknowingly, had introduced me to to a guy called [[Frank Zappa|Frank]] & his [[Freak Out!]]. 
Suddenly, my art and every thing I'd wrestled with in my [[Teen-age Wind|teenage angst]] made sense. 
And has done ever since. 
The world, in all it's dysfunctional progress, owes more than a debt of gratitude to the genius of this modern day composer and all-round good guy.

To discover a blues-jazz fusion single, with FZ on guitar & Beefheart on vocals:

- with Mayall 'off sick' for the day, designing the antiquated picture sleeve).
