He also played Richard Burbage in the Academy Award winning film ''"Shakespeare In Love" (1998)''.

On September 18, 2011, Martin Clunes was a guest in the BBC Radio 4 program ''"Desert Island Discs"'', where guests are invited to list their ten favorite musical tracks that they would take with them to a deserted island. One of Clunes' choices was Frank Zappa's song ''[[Doreen]]''. He also told the interviewer that he would gladly swap the complete works of [[William Shakespeare]] for the complete works of Frank Zappa.
