When interviewed by Dave Itzkoff in The New York Times on June 11, 2014 the reporter asked her if the induction of the band felt like a legitimization? Hynde said: ''"Some artists buy into it. They get their little award, and they're onstage crying, and I just think: Look at yourself. Get off the stage. To me it's disgusting. I don't understand how any self-respecting artist can recognize it as legitimate. If you want to look at the success of sales, look at McDonald's; they've sold a lot of their product.
