Dave Samuels

David Samuels, (October 9, 1948 - April 22, 2019) was a vibraphone, marimba and timpani player. He studied and then taught at Berklee College of Music in Boston before moving to New York in 1974.

In 1973 he formed a marimba and vibraphone duo called Double Image with David Friedman who had beed a student with Ruth Underwood at Julliard. He joined Gerry Mulligan sextet in 1974 and went on to record with Spyro Gyra in the late 1970s before joining the band in 1986.

Samuels performed with Zappa, joining Underwood on percussion, at The Palladium, New York; 26th - 29th December 1976 and can be heard on:
