Utility Muffin Research Kitchen (UMRK) is the name given by Zappa to the recording studio he built at home. It is located at 7885 Woodrow Wilson Drive, LA, CA. Part of the mobile recording studio (UMRK Mobile) was purchased from the Beach Boys. The name "utility muffin research kitchen" was derived from Zappa's song Muffin Man and also appeared in the song A Little Green Rosetta.
UMRK was also used as a catalog number prefix for:
- Civilization Phaze III (only in the US release)
- Frank Zappa Plays The Music Of Frank Zappa
- EIHN
