Hi Tonefish, - Welcome to Zappa Wiki Jawaka. Fresh contributors are always most welcome and their contributions and insights valued. However I would like to offer some guidelines: This is a Zappa wiki not a Beefheart wiki - I share your enthusiasm for the Captain's work but we have more than enough to do finishing all the Zappa stuff without introducing extra layers. We strive to achieve a factual wiki with a neutral point of view so we try to avoid personal opinions and vagueness such as "possibly" and "maybe" and we use surnames not forenames. Information about a particular album should be collected on the page for that album. Check any page you edit for red links - these will usually be just a typo that needs correcting Cheap Thrills rather than Cheep Thrills. Use the Search button to find anything that is less than obvious - e.g. we have a page for Orange Claw Hammer. Happy editing, Duncan 07:31, 13 May 2008 (PDT)

Wikipedia linking

Answering your question to Maroual - Leave a question on the discussion page for the article you are working on then anyone who is around will pick it up.

I think it is called Piping. Insert the vertical bar | character after the link and before the text you want to be shown...

[[wikipedia:Peter Green (musician)|Peter Green]] ... will give you - Peter Green

The same technique works on this wiki too.

But Maroual just responded. :-\ Duncan 12:06, 18 May 2008 (PDT)

RE: Strictly Commercial?

Hey, Tonefish, sorry it took me so long to notice your comment, I've been wrapped up in finals, summer classes, all that good stuff. Anyways, I am most definitely interested in your most generous offer, and would love to know more. My Main areas of interest as far as collecting goes are, To Wit: The Beatles original US and UK releases, on single, LP or EP, The Rolling Stones, both US and UK LP's, Hendrix, specifically Are You Experienced and the original nude cover version of Electric Ladyland, Any Bob Dylan you have, especially bootlegs and ESPECIALLY especially the Ten Of Swords LP Box on Tarantula records. If you have any Reggae, specifically Lee Perry, Toots And The Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, or Junior Murvin. If you have Jazz, Dave Brubeck, Eric Dolphy, John Coltrane or Miles Davis. Quite the laundry list, I know, but I can make it worth your while-When buying albums in bulk sight unseen, I usually find the average of all the records and pay 50% of that number per album (usually, anywhere from $3-10 per), unless you have some thing that attracts my attention, in which case i will calculate cost based on how badly I want it. Send me an email-plaidman308@comcast.net-regarding the availability of the artists and albums listed above, and we can get down to brass tacks!

P.S. I just realized that i am responding to your comment EXACTLY one moth after you sent it. Weird.

Thank you very much for your generous offer, and your Wiki contributions!

Consideration for non-English readers

It is a matter of personal style but I try and work on the principle that many (most?) visitors will not be English speakers so keep the language as "simple" as possible. e.g. words like "Ditties" and "Don the mantle" = "songs" and "assumed the role of" or some such less colourful but non-idiomatic usage.
