FZ's first name is quoted here as "Francis"; I assume that's from the original Washington Post article - along with other obvious journalistic errors.

FZ's name was displayed as "Francis" on the original release of [[Lumpy Gravy]]. I read somewhere that he objected to that - it was something that someone at, I guess, [[Verve Records]] did to try to give the album some "cache". In that article or interview, he stated that he was named "[[Frank Vincent Zappa]]" at birth. Anyone know the interview I'm talking about? Or was it some material that came out with [[Old Masters]] Box One?

FRANCIS

FZ's first name is quoted here as "Francis"; I assume that's from the original Washington Post article - along with other obvious journalistic errors. FZ's name was displayed as "Francis" on the original release of Lumpy Gravy. I read somewhere that he objected to that - it was something that someone at, I guess, Verve Records did to try to give the album some "cache". In that article or interview, he stated that he was named "Frank Vincent Zappa" at birth. Anyone know the interview I'm talking about? Or was it some material that came out with The Old Masters, Box I?

In The Old Masters, Box I reissue, he changed the name on the cover of Lumpy Gravy back to "Frank". I assume that on current releases of Lumpy Gravy it continues to be "Frank" per FZ's direction and preference. -Tzf 20:21, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
