Several paintings have been attributed to Frank Zappa. They mostly date from his school days and teenage years.
One such piece was seen on History Detectives a television show about American History. In 2012, they examined a collage that a collector bought in a South Carolina thrift shop. The artwork was an image of a drum store. Struck by the piece and its "F.Z." signature, a collector, Edward Lewis, suspected that it might be the work of Frank Zappa.[1] History Detectives offered evidence that this was a Zappa piece, but could not definitively prove it. Nonetheless, they estimated the collage, for which Lewis paid $5, to be worth $25,000.[2]
