Born: 23rd September 1935, Lexington, Kentucky


Jazz keyboard player. Early adopter of electronic instruments. Influenced George Duke (who palyed on McCann's Listen Up (1995) album). Recorded for Verve Records between 1964 and 1967 with Verve regulars like Paul Humphrey and Plas Johnson. Some of these recordings can be found on the compilation "Talkin' Verve".

Recorded acclaimed "Swiss Movement" (1968) album with Eddie Harris.

Played with The Mothers taking over piano from Mac Rebennack on the Freak Out! sessions.

As a veteran played with Ernie Watts in the Soul Survivors band.
