Jerry Lewis (March 16, 1926) is a American actor and comedian. During the 1940s he formed a comedic duo with Dean Martin. Later Lewis began a solo career where he became famous for his childlike jokes and voices, as shown in his most famous film "The Nutty Professor" (1963).

He is also known for his annual television telethon to collect money for handicapped children. He is more popular in France, where he is seen a important and inventive comedian, comparable to Charlie Chaplin.
