Chris Ducey formed The Penny Arkade with Craig Smith after they met at an audition for a TV series (which was not produced) which was supposed to rival The Monkees. Smith was a friend of Mike Nesmith who would produced their recordings for them. Smith would also write songs for The Monkees.

Chris Ducey had recorded an album which was to be called "Songs Of Protest And Anti-Protest" with Marshall Lieb for Surrey Records. As Ducey was now signed with another label the album could not be released. Lieb asked Bobby Jameson to re-write the album using the same title and song titles as they had already had the art work produced. Jameson's album was issued under the name Chris Lucey.
