Frank Vincent Zappa was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 21, 1940. His father was an immigrant from Sicily with Greek/Arab origins. His mother was born in US - her mother was from Sicily and her father from Naples.  Baltimore had a large Italian immigrant community and Zappa was not an uncommon name. Indeed it seems to be quite common for Zappa's to be named Frank, Francis, or Vincent.
